I have over 40 years experience of teaching, assessing, and living with children with Specific
Learning Difficulties (SpLD) (which includes dyslexia) and co-morbid difficulties.
I was Headmaster of Shapwick School (Independent Specialist Day & Boarding School for children aged 8 to 19 years with SpLD) for 29 years. During much of that time I was also Head of Games & PE, Teacher of English, Head of Care and Residential Houseparent.
Shapwick School was found to be Outstanding in an Ofsted Inspection in December 2011, which was in my penultimate year at the school.
I was a member of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) for 29 years and I was a member of the
Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) in the late 1990s.
I was a supply teacher in various Primary and Secondary Schools in North Somerset, Bath, Bristol and South Gloucestershire, for 1 term in 2013.
I am currently an Independent Education Advisor who completes assessments with children, and gives advice to parents.
I assist in helping parents to secure better provision for their child with SpLD and co-morbid difficulties either in mainstream schools, or to secure a placement in a specialist school.
I am an experienced expert witness who has attended over 100 Special Educational Needs &
Disability Tribunals (SENDIST) throughout England and Wales.
